Buying advice for Rowbuy orders: sellers, listings, catalogs and agents

Five judgments you make before Rowbuy buys anything, and the evidence on a page that helps you make each one.

Vetting the store behind a listing

Choosing a seller is on you: Rowbuy buys whatever you point it at, so the seller is your choice and your risk. A few things on the listing page tell you a lot. Real photos share one background and include close-ups, not just studio shots. A clean option menu lists each color and size as its own choice, with the price changing per option. A size chart gives centimeters per size and says whether they are flat or around. A store with months of listings and the same item listed consistently is a better bet than one that appeared last week.

On 1688, which is a wholesale marketplace, check the minimum order quantity before you paste the link; some listings only sell in packs. On Weidian, many shops have little or no review history, so photos and options carry more weight.

Breaking a tie between look-alike cards

Catalog shelves often show the same photo under several cards. They are usually different stores selling the same product, or the same store relisting it. Judging a listing before ordering usually rests on four tie-breakers: the fuller photo set, the option menu that names your exact choice, the lighter packaging, and the seller whose problems you could most easily fix at the QC stage.

Price alone is a poor tie-breaker. A CNY 0.01 entry is a stand-in, and a wide price range means the cheapest number belongs to an option you may not want.

Testing a catalog site, ours first

Here is how to judge a Spreadsheet catalog before trusting it. A catalog is only useful if you can trust what it says about prices and agents. Five checks separate the useful ones from the abandoned ones. Dates should be visible next to prices and rules. Shelf and product links should open live pages; dead links are the first sign nobody maintains the list. Agent facts should trace back to the agent's own pages. Gaps should be admitted rather than filled with guesses. And there should be a named way to reach the people who keep it.

Comparing agents and spotting a trustworthy one

Trust in an agent rests on what it is willing to put in writing. A trustworthy agent publishes who operates it, what its service fee is, where its warehouse sits, its free-storage period and its rules for a piece that turns up wrong. Comparing agents on those points tells you more than comparing their shipping headlines.

Run Rowbuy through that list and the result is mixed: free storage, billing currency and shipping rules are stated; the operator has two conflicting answers; the service fee rate, the warehouse city and the QC photo count are blank. That does not make Rowbuy untrustworthy, but it means a first order should be small enough that you could live with a surprise.

Expensive slips that happen before checkout

The costly mistakes happen before the goods payment, when they are still free to avoid. Ordering perfume or anything with a battery, which Rowbuy's lines will not carry. Choosing a size by the letter instead of the centimeters. Forgetting that a Canadian card will be charged in US dollars. Buying a single light item and paying the US lines' CNY 135 first unit for it alone. Assuming duties are included, when Rowbuy says plainly that they are set by your country and paid by you.

One habit that costs nothing: screenshot the listing page when you order, so you have a record if the seller edits the photos or the price later.
